March 16: Program: Warping with a Paddle

This is a program where you get to make it or break it! Many of us have been weaving for years (okay, decades) and still are intimidated by multiple-thread warping methods. The first thing we will do for this program is take care of that!! We will have warping paddles and all the other hardware to become comfortable with this time-saving technique.

We also would like to look at other warping strategies, so we hope to  have on hand a warping mill, warping wheel, and any warping hints and tricks we can bring to the table. So put your warping hat on and come participate in our warped party!

April 19 Program: Deb Essen (NOTE DIFFERENT MEETING DAY) this is not yet confirmed with Pebble Beach! Topic: Color Value and Weaving

Deb is giving a workshop on supplemental warps, and will present her program after wrapping that up. It’s a timely topic for the weaving study group, which has created an offshoot group to study color! Deb is a nationally known teacher/author and has much experience to share with us.

May 20 Program: Grow your Own Dye Garden with Kris Nardello and Peg McCullough

Kris & Peg are from the Aptos area, so their information on the many dyes you can get out of your own garden is apropos to our area, too! They’ve both spent years growing, harvesting and processing natural dyes and will present a comprehensive look at the rainbow you can create with a few seeds, some dirt and water, and your fiber or fabric.

June 15: Sami band weaving with Joan Near

The indigenous reindeer-tending nomads of the arctic circle called the Sami have a long tradition of beautiful decorative bands. But what makes the bands even more attractive is that they are woven on a small rigid heddle which is designed to make picking out a pattern incredibly easy! Joan will present this easy band making method, and also take you through the many other ways to make beautiful bands, both simple and complex.
